Kotoba Technologies has raised $10 million in seed funding to accelerate development of its real-time voice AI platform tailored for East Asian markets. The San Francisco and Tokyo-based company’s proprietary speech model, Koto, specializes in processing Japanese, Korean, and Chinese languages with unprecedented accuracy and speed.
The funding round was led by Kindred Ventures, with additional participation from Salesforce Ventures and Sony Innovation Fund. This investment brings Kotoba’s total funding to $23 million, reflecting strong confidence in voice AI technology’s growing importance across Asia’s digital transformation landscape.
Kotoba’s platform enables real-time speech applications including AI-powered customer service agents, voice assistants, and interactive communication tools. The company’s focus on East Asian languages addresses a significant gap in the global AI market, where most voice recognition systems struggle with tonal nuances and complex linguistic structures found in these regions.
