Popular messaging platform WhatsApp has temporarily disabled a feature that allowed users to forward messages, following a government directive aimed at curbing misinformation and preventing the circulation of leaked examination material. The restriction, which began on June 1st, will remain in effect until June 30th during the Neet-UG re-examination period.
The move comes as educational institutions and government bodies work to maintain exam integrity amid concerns about leaked question papers circulating online. WhatsApp’s forwarding limitations have been implemented to prevent the rapid spread of sensitive academic content that could compromise the examination process.
While the platform typically allows unlimited message forwarding, the temporary restrictions will limit users to forwarding messages to only one chat at a time. This measure aims to slow down viral sharing while still permitting normal communication among students and educators during this critical examination period.
