Nuvoton Technology Corporation Japan has announced mass production of two new battery-monitoring ICs (BMICs) designed specifically for AI server applications. The KA49703A and KA49713A will begin shipping in September 2026, targeting battery backup units (BBUs) that keep critical AI infrastructure running continuously.
These 16-cell BMICs feature innovative daisy-chain communication that simplifies wiring complexity while enabling robust monitoring across multiple battery modules. This architecture allows AI server operators to scale their backup power systems efficiently without sacrificing reliability or performance. The chips provide precise cell-level monitoring essential for maintaining battery health and safety.
